A very disappointing visit to an idyllic location (although they are plentiful in the Lake District). Poor facilities, a narrow range of expensive snacks and drinks, extremely slow service and a stroppy and unhelpful manager. £20 an hour for a rowing boat is not cheap, even more so when you aren't allowed to swap your children over for a go during your allotted time! Walkers don't be fooled, walk the extra 5 minutes for bettter facilities a warmer welcome and a wider range of refreshments!

Our scones and cakes are superb - our choice of teas, coffees and soft drinks legendary. Our rowing boats priced in line with other boats on other meres in the Lake District. Opinions vary.

Walk on. there's defintely something better round the corner!

Me and my wife have never visited the lake district so my wife booked us afternoon tea at a hotel in Grasmere.

We thought we would make a day of it so I looked into.

Me and my wife have never visited the lake district so my wife booked us afternoon tea at a hotel in Grasmere.

We thought we would make a day of it so I looked into local attractions and activities and Faeryland popped up.

We arrived around 11am and Faeryland was very busy. We queued up at the kiosk and were greeted by the owner. We asked about boat hire and he informed us we were just in time as thunder and lightning was due soon. He explained thoroughly about the boat, price, safety etc.

He showed us down to the boats and assisted my wife and I onto the boat. I've never been on a paddle boat before so he explained perfectly how to paddle it. He pushed us off and let us know he would see us in an hour and help us in.

We had a brilliant time on the lake, the scenery is incredible. We paddled around for a while then just let the breeze take us the rest.

We then decided to head in, we seen the owner coming down whilst approaching the jetty, he guided me in and assisted my wife and I off the boat. He asked us how our time was - incredible!

We collected our £20 deposit and continued on with the rest of our day. Which involved torrential rain, thunder and lightning. (He was right)

The owner was professional and polite, everything was explained perfectly.

This is a beautiful establishment and I would highly recommend you pay a visit if you are in the Lake District.
